What is a Compromise Agreement?
This is a legally binding agreement following the cessation of your employment especially in redundancy situations that you might be asked to sign. It usually provides for an unemployment payment by your employer, in return you agree not to pursue any claim you may have against the company to an employment tribunal.
If you are offered a compromise agreement it is really important that you have it explained to you by an independent i.e. not the company’s solicitor. The solicitor you have chosen will sign the agreement their signature is stating they have explained the document to you and the implications of it and it will then be legally binding.
